We're a Lincolnshire web studio. Before we wrote this page we tested 159 business websites across Lincoln, Boston, Grantham, Sleaford, Spalding, Gainsborough and the towns around them. Most of them are losing enquiries in ways the owner can't see. Here's what we found, town by town, and how we build so yours doesn't.

What we found
We ran 159 Lincolnshire business websites through our audit engine between September to October 2026: Google's own speed test on a phone, a live security check and a look at how each one asks for enquiries. These are the results. We don't name anyone.
94% were slower than Google's mark on a phone
Google counts a page as good when its main content shows within 2.5 seconds on a phone. The typical site we tested took 7.1 seconds, and 82% took more than 4. Most people searching on a phone leave before then.
30% had no tap-to-call link
The number was missing or written as plain text, so a customer on a phone has to copy it out by hand. For a business that lives on phone calls, that's work lost on the first screen.
50% had no enquiry form
Plenty of people would rather send a message than ring, especially in the evening. With no form, those enquiries go to whoever has one.
75% had three or fewer of the six standard security protections
Most had the padlock but not the other settings that stop the site being framed, sniffed or downgraded. It's quick to fix, and browsers and Google notice.
Town by town
Towns where we tested at least eight sites. Smaller towns are counted in the Lincolnshire total above but not shown on their own, because a handful of sites can't tell you much.

Why local matters
Most of your customers find you on a phone, a few miles from you, in a hurry.
Searches with a town in them
"Electrician Lincoln", "roofer near Boston", "kitchen fitter Grantham". Google shows the businesses that clearly serve that place, so your site needs a page that says which towns you cover and what you do there, not a single line in the footer.
The map comes first
For local searches, Google shows a map with three businesses above the normal results. Your Google Business Profile and your reviews decide who appears there; your website backs it up with the detail Google checks against.
Rural signal and slow phones
Plenty of Lincolnshire is on patchy 4G. A site that takes 7 seconds in Google's test can take far longer in a field outside Sleaford or on the coast road. Fast sites win twice here.
