Websites for plumbers that get the phone ringing
Someone with water coming through the ceiling isn't going to wait for your website to load. We tested 74 plumbing and heating websites and found the same problems again and again: slow on a phone, no number to tap, and no way to send a message after hours.
01
What we found
We ran 74 plumbers' websites through our audit engine between September to October 2026: Google's own speed test on a phone, a live security check and a look at how each one asks for enquiries. These are the results. We don't name anyone.
93% were slower than Google's mark on a phone
Google counts a page as good when its main content shows within 2.5 seconds on a phone. The typical site we tested took 7.5 seconds, and 80% took more than 4. Most people searching on a phone leave before then.
27% had no tap-to-call link
The number was missing or written as plain text, so a customer on a phone has to copy it out by hand. For a business that lives on phone calls, that's work lost on the first screen.
45% had no enquiry form
Plenty of people would rather send a message than ring, especially in the evening. With no form, those enquiries go to whoever has one.
73% had three or fewer of the six standard security protections
Most had the padlock but not the other settings that stop the site being framed, sniffed or downgraded. It's quick to fix, and browsers and Google notice.

What a plumber's site needs
Two kinds of customer land on your site: the emergency and the planned job. It has to work for both.
For the emergency: one tap to call
Your number at the top of every page on a phone, as a tap-to-call link, with clear words about whether you take emergency call-outs and when. That's the whole job of the first screen.
For the planned job: a page per service
Boiler installs, servicing, bathrooms, power flushing, landlord gas safety certificates. One page each, so you can be found for each one and the customer can see you do exactly what they need.
Proof you're qualified
Your Gas Safe registration number and any manufacturer accreditations, shown clearly. Customers check, and so does Google.
The areas you cover, by name
List the towns and villages you work in. People search "plumber" plus their town, and a page that names it is far more likely to show up.
Reviews where they'll be read
Your Google reviews near the top, linked to your profile. For a trade people let into their home, reviews do more selling than anything you write.
03
What every site we build does
The standard we build to, checked before launch, so none of the problems above make it onto your site.
Main content on screen in under 2.5 seconds
Google's own mark for a good page on a phone. We test every page before launch and send you the report.
A tap-to-call number on every page
In the header on phones, so a customer can ring you with one tap from wherever they land.
A short enquiry form that reaches you
Name, number, what they need and where. Every message goes to your inbox, tested end to end before launch.
All six standard security protections
The padlock plus the five settings most sites leave off, so browsers and Google trust the site.
One page for each service and area
So you can be found for each thing you do, not just your business name.
04
What it costs
A fixed price before any work starts
Every build is quoted through our own pricing engine, from the pages, features and content your site needs, so you know the full cost up front. For what drives the price, see our honest breakdown of website costs.
From £85 a month after launch
Website Care covers hosting, security updates, uptime checks and small changes. Month to month, with a month's notice to stop.
Not sure where your current site stands?
The £95 Site Health Check tests your homepage and sends you a plain-English fix list within 48 hours. The fee comes off the price if we go on to do the work.

Questions
I get most of my work from word of mouth. Do I need a website?
Word of mouth is often how people hear your name, then they look you up before ringing. A slow site or one with no number to tap loses some of those people at the last step.
Can you show emergency and planned work differently?
Yes. The usual way is a clear emergency line at the top for the urgent jobs, and separate service pages for boilers, bathrooms and servicing, each with its own enquiry form.
Can customers book a boiler service online?
We can add online booking. Bigger features like booking are quoted first, never added to the price without you agreeing.
How were these plumbers' sites chosen?
They're plumbing and heating businesses we found through Google's business listings, mostly in Lincolnshire and the East Midlands, tested between September and October 2026. We never name them.
